Robert E. "Cowboy” Mills, age 73, of Garland, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on January 22, 2026. He was born on October 1, 1952, in Akron, Ohio.

Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army. Known to many as ‘Cowboy,’ he will be remembered for his strong spirit and steady presence.

He was the devoted husband of Carole Locke Mills, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage, and a loving father to Brooke Mills and Samantha Mills.

He is also survived by his nieces, Melissa (Bryan) Ressler and Monica (Brian) Kehres and his great-niece Raigan, and great nephews Lane, Dawson, Hayden, Kyle, Colin, and Connor.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Shird and Elsa Mills, and his brother Richard Mills.

A memorial and celebration of life will be held at VFW Post 5076, Garland, Texas, on Saturday, February 7, from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in his memory.
